Professional Program BOC Exam Pass Rate Data

The Annual Reports for Professional Programs were recently completed within e-Accreditation and are currently being reviewed by the Annual Report Committee.  Although the data from the Annual Reports is still being reviewed, the BOC Pass Rate data by program is now available.  Three hundred fifty-eight (358) professional programs had students challenge the BOC examination during the 2011-13 academic years.   The following table shows the results by degree level across all programs.  The first time pass rate across all programs was 82% while the overall pass rate across all programs was 92%.    Standard 11 of the CAATE Standards for the Accreditation of Professional Athletic Training Programs (Standards) states that Programs must meet or exceed a three-year aggregate of 70% first-time pass rate not the BOC examination.  A total of 93 programs did not meet this standard.  Table 2 shows the count and percentage of programs failing to meet the 70% first time pass rate.   The programs found in non-compliance with this standard will be required to submit a progress report by June 1, 2014 providing an analysis of the deficiencies and an action plan for correction.   Programs failing to meet the 70% 3-year aggregate first time pass rate as reported on next year’s annual report will have their accreditation status changed to “Probation”.   It is important to note that the CAATE obtains examination results from the Board of Certification, but calculates pass rate according to cohort.  A cohort is a group of students that is admitted to the program during the same admission cycle and has the same on-time graduation.   A graduate will be counted as part of that cohort, regardless of actual graduation date. As of November 2013.  (Includes the October 2013 BOC examination)
