Over the course of the last 60 days the Commission has received correspondence from some programs regarding several Outcomes standards, specifically those that address the pass rate on the Board of Certification (BOC) exam and those that require transparency and accountability to the public. The standards that directly relate to the pass rate on the BOC exam are standards 7, 8, 11, 12 and 13. The Commission has received positive feedback, concerns, and an unprecedented amount of inquiry from the public regarding specific programs’ BOC exam pass rates. At our winter meeting in Austin Texas, February 21 & 22, 2014, the Commission discussed the feedback that we have received regarding the Outcomes standards.

The CAATE is proud to announce that current President, Mark Laursen, has been awarded the Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts (ATOM) Athletic Trainer of the Year award for 2014. In addition to his CAATE appointment, Mark also serves as the Director of Athletic Training Services at Boston University. Please join us in congratulating Mark for his personal and professional success in receiving this honor.  Mark was nominated for this award by Brian Vesci, his colleague at Boston University.

Program administrator workshops and updates/open forums to be held at all district meetings.

The CAATE is conducting workshops for program administrators and faculty in  conjunction with district and other athletic training meetings.  Registration for the  workshops may be completed in conjunction with the district meeting registrations.  In addition, representatives from the Commission will be presenting an update and conducting an open forum titled “Assuring and Enhancing Quality Education in Athletic Training” at each NATA district meeting.  The open forums are designed to allow participants to ask questions regarding accreditation issues and the level of the professional degree.  Please join us!  Click here for times, dates and locations.
